This policy describes how the current Zojourn iOS app handles information. Zojourn does not require a separate account with the app developer.
Information you add
Zojourn stores the trips and activities you create, including titles, destinations, dates, notes, flight details, place names and map coordinates. It also stores files, photos, notes and links you choose to attach. Zojourn accesses a selected photo, imported file or camera image only when you use that feature.
On-device storage and iCloud
Your trip information is stored on your device. When iCloud is available for your Apple Account, Zojourn uses Apple's CloudKit to sync trips, activities and attachments to your private iCloud database so they can appear on your devices signed in to the same account. If iCloud is unavailable, the app can continue to use its local data, but syncing will not occur. The appearance choice and last successful sync time are stored on the device.
Zojourn does not operate its own account system or a server that receives your complete trip database. Apple provides the iCloud service and handles information under its own privacy terms. iCloud syncing and deletion can take time when a device is offline.
Searches and outside services
When you search for a destination or activity location, Zojourn sends the search text and, where relevant, a map region to Apple Maps. When you request suggested cover photos, Zojourn searches Wikimedia Commons and Openverse using destination or landmark terms, and downloads images from their hosts. Suggested covers show the photographer and license when that information is available. If Google Places is configured in the app, Zojourn may send a selected destination's coordinates to Google to find nearby landmarks.
If you use flight lookup, Zojourn sends the flight number and selected departure date to AeroDataBox through RapidAPI. These services may receive standard network information, such as your IP address, and handle requests under their own privacy policies. Zojourn uses the responses to show suggestions or fill in trip details; it does not send your entire trip database to these lookup services.
If you open a link saved in Zojourn, the destination website receives a normal browser request. Its own privacy practices apply.
How information is used
Zojourn uses this information to provide trip planning, maps, document viewing, cover suggestions, flight lookup and iCloud sync. The current app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and the app developer does not sell your trip information.
Zojourn uses Sentry to receive crash reports and a small set of handled failure reports so we can fix app problems. It also sends session start, end, and crash status so Sentry can calculate crash-free sessions. Diagnostic reports can include a stack trace, app version, device type, operating system version, and the type of failure. Zojourn does not intentionally include trip details, personal health information, precise location, attachments, photos, search text, or full records in these reports. Sentry does not receive session replay, screen captures, profiling data, performance traces, or default personally identifying information from this integration. Sentry may receive standard network information, such as an IP address, when a report is sent. See Sentry's privacy policy for its handling of diagnostic data.
Your choices and deletion
You can edit or delete trips, activities and attachments in the app. Deletions are also synchronized to iCloud when syncing is available. Removing the app from one device removes that device's local copy, but does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud or on your other devices. You can manage Zojourn's iCloud data through Apple's iCloud settings. Photo, camera, file, location search, cover suggestion and flight lookup features are optional.
Security and changes
Zojourn uses Apple's on-device storage and private CloudKit database for saved information, and HTTPS for its lookup requests. No method of storage or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure. If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated with a new effective date.
